After being married traveling and working in Holland and Saudi Arabia we finally came home to roost in KZN. At that time Hans was in the construction game and whilst on site one day in the distance barreling along through the mielie field was what looked like a wild pig. On seeing Hans this critter launched itself into his arms knocking him onto his butt! Only then did he relies it was a dog this “packet of dynamite, Hans was so enchanted, and declared that his next dog would be a Staffie, after being told what this so called wild pig/dog breed was.
And so started TENGEENIE STAFFORD'S and our love affair with this charming breed. Our 1st staffie was a little brindle girl registered as GRACE born 3/8/1988. Charma as she was known bought out of the newspaper, had no real fancy credentials but she lived to be 13 years and taught us a great deal about these fun loving terriers. We then moved onto trying our hand in the Breed Show Ring and had acquired Boris, a lively red male, to achieve our goal. Boris however, had other ideas and whilst he was very well known in the show circles, he was definitely not prepared to show! ?In fact he was just impossible! He was with us until he turned 15 years old.
Our foundation bitch was Ch Parabello Golden Girl of Tengeenie (Zereka) born 18/4/1994 a bright shiny red girl. Since then, we have enjoyed our share of success in the show ring and at one stage had 13 staffies at home. Both my son, Clinton and daughter Nicolet are also crazy about the breed and Nicolet has become very involved in dogdom. She has shown many different breeds and is involved in obedience, breed showing and has also tried carting. She has more recently taken to becoming a breed judge.
Hans and I have been and still are actively involved on several show committee’s . We find this a most absorbing hobby but it is not all consuming.
